It has been over 80 years since Holle began manufacturing baby food using Demeter products. We are conscious of the fact that we, as a manufacturer of baby food, bear a very special responsibility – for the environment; our babies and their future. As a result, sustainable management and social responsibility have always been among our company’s core values. Our operating methods are based on the desire to ensure that future generations will be able to live in a healthy environment. In concrete terms this means that we consistently work hard to make Holle even more sustainable, implementing a wide range of measures and projects.
A materiality study which we carried out with regard to our entrepreneurial activities identified six focus areas which, in the context of sustainability, are most relevant for us and our interest groups and can be expected to continue to be of importance in the future. In order to illustrate and communicate these focus areas and our achievements in the field of sustainability we have developed a corresponding logo – the sustainability ear of grain. It also appears on our product packaging and will be explained in more detail in our sustainability report 2013/2014 and sustainability magazines 2016, 2017 and 2020.
We are participating in global climate protection under the motto “Making soil good”. Since early 2013 we have been compensating for CO2e emissions generated during production of our baby milk formula. From November 2014 all Holle baby porridges and all Holle milk cereals will also be CO2e neutral products. Holle’s goat milk formula has been climate-neutral since 2016. Further products, such as junior mueslis, are also due to be accredited. We obtain our emission certificates through the biodynamic projects of Soil & More in Egypt and South Africa.
In addition to this, we support a range of projects aimed at promoting natural diversity instead of genetic engineering.
